In this collaborative work with the group of Prof. Liangbing Hu, a stable, salt-resistant solar evaporator has been designed. My contribution to this study has been the development of a scaling model that establishes the condition under which the detrimental effect of salt accumulation can be overcome.

Prof. Das has been honored at the UMD’s Inaugural Maryland Research Excellence Celebration. This is based on Prof. Das and his group’s research contributions in 2018. A total of 200 professors from the entire university were honored.

In this paper, we develop continuum models to establish that a gold NP and a silica NP approaches the plasma membrane (PM) differently due to the corresponding differences in the gold-NP-PM and silica-NP-PM van der Waals interactions.
