In this paper, we study the effect of charge Density on the properties of polyelectrolyte chains, brush-supported counterions, and water molecules by employing all-atom MD simulations. This is Harnoor’s 20th paper, Turash’s 3rd paper, and Bhargav’s 1st paper from the group. Congrats All!!!!

The paper employs molecular dynamics simulations for studying friction in graphene channels of height less than 1 nanometer as a function of graphene misalignment. SMIEL Ph.D. student Harnoor Singh Sachar wins the STLE (Society of Tribology and Lubrication Engineering) Philadelphia section Scholarship.  Previously, two more Ph.D. students from SMIEL, Shayandev Sinha and Parth Desai had also won this Fellowship. 

Prof. Siddhartha Das delivered an invited talk on “Structure, Energetics, and Protein Sensing of Curved Lipid Bilayer Systems” in Biomaterials for Tissue Engineering (a Virtual Conference).

In this paper, we report the theoretical model on the massive increase in electroosmotic transport in nanochannels grafted with Polyelectrolyte Brushes modled using augmented Strong Stretching Theory (SST). This is Vishal’s 9th paper, Ankit’s 6th paper, and Harnoor’s 19th paper from the group. Congrats All !!!!!

In this paper, we develop a new theory to study the behavior, configuration, and electrostatics of polyelectrolyte (PE) brushes in large salt concentration. In this paper, we study the structure of nanoparticle-supported Lipid Bilayers formed by self-assembly mechanism. This study is done in collaboration with Dr. Ramamurthi of NIH. This is Haoyuan’s 15th, Parth’s 11th, and Yanbin’s 16th paper from the group. Congrats All !!!!

Enrique Wagemann (a joint postdoc working with Prof. Sushanta Mitra at University of Waterloo and SMIEL) has started as an Assistant Professor in Department of Mechanical Engineering at Universidad de Concepción, Chile.
