As a part of this recognition, Prof. Das has been invited to contribute an article to the Emerging Investigator collections of the Soft Matter journal.

SMIEL former Ph.D. student Dr. Harnoor Singh Sachar won the best Ph.D. dissertation thesis of the Department of Mechanical Engineering for the year 2021. Harnoor was the 5th Ph.D. student to graduate from the group and was the 3rd one from the group to receive this award after Guang Chen and Shayandev Sinha.

In this paper, we develop a computational model to probe the two-phase particle-liquid transport in a curved micro channel delineating the effect of Dean flow. This is a collaborative work with U.S. FDA. This is Vishal’s 18th paper from the group. Congratulations to everybody involved !!!!!

SMIEL Ph.D. student Parth Rakesh Desai successfully defends his Ph.D. dissertation on “EFFECT OF MISMATCHED BASE PAIRS ON DNA PLECTONEMES”. Parth becomes the 7th Ph.D. from the group.

SMIEL Ph.D. student Md. Turash Haque Pial successfully defends his Ph.D. dissertation on “ATOMISTIC  EXPLORATION  OF DENSELY-GRAFTED POLYELECTROLYTE  BRUSHES:  EFFECT OF  APPLIED  ELECTRIC  FIELD  AND MULTIVALENT  SCREENING COUNTERIONS”. Turash becomes the 6th Ph.D. from the group.

Prof. Das delivered an in-person invited talk in this meeting. The title of the talk was “Computational Fluid Dynamics Modeling of Water and Ion Transport in Nanocellulose”

Prof. Das and other students of SMIEL visit and present their research in APS March meeting. There were six talks from the group and Prof. Das chaired two sessions.

In this paper, we discuss the effect of applied electric field in charge-density-dependent response of grafted polyelectrolyte molecules. This is Turash’s 8th and Harnoor’s 27th paper from the group.
