In this study, Prof. Das and his Postdoc Dr. Guang Chen collaborate with Prof. Liangbing Hu (Material Science and Engineering, UMD) and his team to provide a design of a highly scaleable wood-based structure for solar steam generation.

In this paper, we use MD simulations to study the imbibtion-spreading dyanmics of a water nanodrop on a holey graphene. This is Yanbin’s 3rd paper and Shayandev’s 15th paper from the group….heartiest congratulations to both !!!!

SMIEL has received a funding of $80 K from NAVAIR. This is a renewal of the grant on “Conformal 3-D Printed Carbon-Nanotube-Reinforced Composites”.

Harnoor Singh has joined SMIEL as an MS student. He will be working on MD simulations of lipid bilayers and continuum problems on different problems of charged soft matter systems. Welcome to SMIEL, Harnoor !!!!

DOE BES funding has been awarded to SMIEL to conduct research on fundmanetals of electrokinetics and energy conversion in polyelectrolyte grafted nanochannels.

In this paper, Dr. Das teams up with Dr. Hines’ group at the LPS to propose a new technology of developing 3-D printed fillet based interconnects for electrically connecting components on different vertical planes on a chip. This is Yuan’s second paper from the group…many congratulations Yuan.

In this paper a dynamic theory for the inverted Cheerios effect (multiple drops interacting on a soft solid) is proposed. This paper is the result of Dr. Das’ work with Prof. Snoeijer’s group at University of Twente.
