SMIEL PhD student Ms. Guang Chen has cleared her PhD proposal and has Advanced to Candidacy. Congratulations to Guang !!!!!

Dr. Siddhartha Das starts mentoring the GEMSTONE team BACTERIA. This team is working on the research project of using enzymes to break down asphaltene for a more enhanced heavy oil recovery.

SMIEL receives funding from Laboratory for Physical Sciences to carry our research on 3-D printing of ball grid arrays. Dr. Das (PI) is collaborating with Prof. Abhijit Dasgupta (Mechanical Engineering, UMD) on this project.

This paper talks about new nanomanufacturing technique for metal chalcogenides. This work is a result of collaboration between SMIEL and groups of Prof. Liangbing Hu (UMD, Material Science Engineering) and Prof. Xinyu Zhang (Auburn University).
