In this paper, we show the manner in which the electrostatics and van der Waals forces dictate the anti-biofouling action of dielectric coating. This is Ankit’s 2nd paper, Vishal’s 6th paper, and Harnoor’s 16th paper from the group. Congrats All !!!!

In this paper, we develop a numerical model to study the simultaneous spreading and curing of photopolymerizable polymer drop towards better understanding the on-spot photocuring in 3D printing applications. In this paper, which is a collaborative effort with Prof. Sushanta Mitra of University of Waterloo, we employ the classical Molecular Dynamics simulations for studying the dynamics of water drop on nanopillared hexagonal Boron Nitride nanostructure. This is Yanbin’s 13th paper and Enrique’s 1st paper from the group.

Prof. Siddhartha Das has been chosen as one of the Honorees in the UMD’s Maryland Research Excellence Celebration 2020. This award has been bestowed to Prof. Das to recognize his research contributions in 2019 that have “demonstrably elevated the visibility and reputation of the University of Maryland Research Enterprise”.

SMIEL PhD student Harnoor Singh Sachar has been chosen as one of the Mechanical Engineering nominees for the UMD Graduate School’s Outstanding Graduate Assistant Award for 2019….Congrats Harnoor!!!

In this collaborative work, we report the use of thermally conductive hexagonal Boron Nitride coating for developing fire-Resistant structural material.

The funding is for the project “Additive Manufacturing of Microscale Inductors for RF Applications”. Prof. Ryan Sochol and Prof. Abhijit Dasgupta are co-PIs on the project.
