SMIEL Ph.D. student Harnoor Singh Sachar wins the STLE (Society of Tribology and Lubrication Engineering) Philadelphia section Scholarship.  Previously, two more Ph.D. students from SMIEL, Shayandev Sinha and Parth Desai had also won this Fellowship. 

Prof. Siddhartha Das delivered an invited talk on “Structure, Energetics, and Protein Sensing of Curved Lipid Bilayer Systems” in Biomaterials for Tissue Engineering (a Virtual Conference).

In this paper, we report the theoretical model on the massive increase in electroosmotic transport in nanochannels grafted with Polyelectrolyte Brushes modled using augmented Strong Stretching Theory (SST). This is Vishal’s 9th paper, Ankit’s 6th paper, and Harnoor’s 19th paper from the group. Congrats All !!!!!

In this paper, we develop a new theory to study the behavior, configuration, and electrostatics of polyelectrolyte (PE) brushes in large salt concentration. Enrique Wagemann (a joint postdoc working with Prof. Sushanta Mitra at University of Waterloo and SMIEL) has started as an Assistant Professor in Department of Mechanical Engineering at Universidad de Concepción, Chile. This is SMIEL’s first student/postdoc starting as an independent faculty member. Heartiest congratulations, Enrique !!!!!

In this paper, which is a collaborative effort with Prof. Sushanta Mitra of University of Waterloo, we employ the classical Molecular Dynamics simulations for establishing the wetting translucency effect of hexagonal boron nitride. This is Yanbin’s 15th paper and Enrique’s 2nd paper from the group.
